Gartner Announces Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends in 2019

1. Autonomous things
Autonomous objects such as robots, drones, and autonomous vehicles use AI to automate human functions. Their automation goes beyond the level of automation through a rigorous programming model and leverages AI to perform advanced actions that naturally interact with the environment and people.

2. Augmentation analysis

Augmentation analysis focuses on specific areas of augmenting intelligence using machine learning to transform the way in which analysis content is developed, consumed, and shared. Augmentation analysis capabilities will rapidly evolve into key functions of data preparation, data management, modern analysis, business process management, process mining and the data science platform. The automated insights gained from the incremental analysis will be applied to business activities such as HR, finance, sales, marketing, customer service, procurement and asset management departments to optimize the decisions and actions of all employees, including analysts and data scientists.

3. Artificial intelligence led development

The market is rapidly changing to a model that professional developers can operate exclusively using a serviceable predefined model, away from the approach that professional data scientists have had to work with application developers to build most of the AI enhancement solutions. It provides developers with development tools designed to integrate AI algorithms and model ecosystems, as well as models and AI capabilities into the solution.

4. Digital Twin

A digital tween is a digital version of an object or system that exists in the real world. Gartner expects to generate more than 20 billion connected sensors and endpoints by 2020, with potential digital bottlenecks in billions of objects. Organizations will initially apply digital twinning in a simple way. Over time, they will evolve as they acquire and visualize the right data, apply the right analysis and rules, and improve their ability to respond effectively to business goals.

5. Edge with autonomy

An edge refers to an endpoint device that is used by people or embedded around us. Edge Computing is a computing topology in which information processing, content collection and delivery is handled adjacent to endpoints. Edge computing tries to process traffic and processing locally to reduce traffic and latency.
Soon the edge will be dominated by IoT, and if necessary, processing will be maintained near the end of the centralized cloud server. Instead of creating a new architecture, cloud computing and edge computing will evolve into a model that supplements cloud services managed as a central service in centralized servers as well as decentralized on-premises and edge devices themselves.

6. Immersion experience

Interactive platforms are changing the way people interact with the digital world. Virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) are changing the way people perceive the digital world. This integrated change in perception and interaction model leads to a future immersive user experience.

7. Block Chain

A block chain is a kind of distributed ledger that will restructure the industry by building trust, providing transparency, reducing potential costs due to reduced friction between business ecosystems, reducing transaction settlement times, and improving cash flow. Today, trust is built in banks, clearing houses, governments, and other agencies that serve as central authorities, and the "single version of truth" is stored securely in their databases. This centralized trust model adds delay and frictional costs (commission, commission and time value of money) to the transaction. On the other hand, the block chain provides an alternative trust mode and eliminates the need for central authorities in arbitration transactions.

8. Smart space

Smart space refers to a physical or digital environment in which people and technology systems are more open, connected, coordinated, and interacting in intelligent ecosystems.

9. Digital Ethics and Privacy

Digital ethics and privacy are the concerns of individuals, organizations and governments alike. People are increasingly concerned about how their personal information is used by organizations in the public and private sectors, and there is a growing opposition to organizations that do not actively address these concerns.

10. Quantum Computing

Quantum computing is a type of non-conventional computing that operates in the quantum state of subatomic particles such as electrons and ions, which represent information as a quantum bit (qubit) element. Parallel execution and exponential scalability of quantum computers means that traditional approaches are either too complex or to solve problems that take a long time to find solutions with traditional algorithms. Industries such as automotive, finance, insurance, pharmaceutical, military and research organizations are benefiting most from the development of quantum computing. editor@itworld.co.kr
